We are Canada’s premier flatbed carrier, and we currently have an opening for an Accounting Clerk. 

 

About this Position:
This position reports to the Corporate Controller and will be liaising between Dispatch, Maintenance and the General Manager.  This position participates as a member of the team to establish and define the accountability, reporting, responsibilities, duties, and measures of performance within the accounting department at our company

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary role of the Accounting Clerk is to perform a wide range of general accounting tasks to support the payables, payroll, operations and finance functions within a fast-paced environment.  The ideal candidate will have experience working with QuickBooks and MS Office.   

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile accounts payable to vendor statements on a periodic basis and address enquiries
  • Assists with Accounts Payable and Owner Operator payments and deductions
  • Prepare drivers pay weekly in accordance with rate schedule
  • Maintain and reconcile all fuel vendors to ensure invoices have been completed and processed on a timely basis
  • Prepare and maintain reports for profitability analysis, internal financials, and analytical metrics
  • Reconcile and post monthly credit card accounts
  • Prepare month end account reconciliations on select accounts
  • Assist with month end functions as required
  • Miscellaneous ad hoc projects to support the finance team in achieving goals
  • Assists with Accounts Payable and Owner Operator payments and deductions
  • Identify, recommend, and execute process improvements
  • Perform other related accounting and administrative duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in accounting and finance
  • Excellent communication skills:  strong overall written and verbal skills
  • Strong organizational skills:  time management, multi-tasking, and completing priorities
  • Detail oriented
  • High level of computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks
  • Ability to solve practical problems, apply judgment, and deal with a variety of situations with limited supervision
  • Experience in the transportation industry would be an asset
